'BUILD BACK BETTER IN DRAG': GOP Voices React to the 'Inflation Reduction Act of 2022'

Democrats Chuck Schumer and Joe Manchin have struck a deal for the ‘Inflation Reduction Act of 2022’ —a pared-down version of last year’s Build Back Better bill. While Manchin is trying to reassure voters that the additional spending in the bill won’t have a negative effect on the economy, conservatives aren’t buying it.

Prominent GOP voices and conservative pundits reacted to news of the bill on Twitter.

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene says the new bill is just a dressed-up version of Build Back.

“The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 sounds a lot like Build Back Better in drag.”

Strategist Greg Price says this is a move “only Democrats” would pull.

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) calls the bill “laughable.”

New York Rep. Nicole Malliotakis can’t believe “Dems are pushing MORE inflationary spending.”

California Rep. Darell Issa snuck in a shot at Biden.

While the Dems get their votes in order on Build Back Lite, the economy is in a recession —by the classic definition, not the Biden Administration’s new definition. A report from the Bureau of Economic Analysis on Thursday shows the U.S. economy shrank by 0.9%.

Not the best time for a huge spending bill. Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) summed it up in a tweet.
