United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May was dealt a historic and unprecedented defeat Tuesday evening; losing her key ‘Brexit’ vote in the British Parliament by a whopping 230 member majority.
“Theresa May has sustained the heaviest parliamentary defeat of any British prime minister in the democratic era after MPs rejected her Brexit deal by a resounding majority of 230,” writes the Guardian.
“This is the most significant vote that any of us will ever be part of in our political careers. A decision that will define our decision for decades to come,” said May prior to the vote.
The future of Brexit hangs in the balance, with members of Parliament calling for a “second referendum” as the nation’s impending divorce from the European Union is just weeks away.
