FOREVER SCHUMER: Democrats Re-Elect Schumer as Senate Minority Leader

posted by Hannity Staff - 11.10.20

Democratic lawmakers -once again- nominated and elected Charles Schumer as the likely Senate Minority Leader when the new Congress is sworn in next year; renewing his years-long struggle with GOP leader Mitch McConnell.

“Senate Democrats on Tuesday morning re-elected Sen. Charles Schumer (N.Y.) as Senate minority leader along with the rest of his leadership team, including Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), who will serve another term as Senate minority whip and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) as assistant Democratic leader,” reports The Hill.

“The meeting was focused on the business of re-electing the Democratic leadership slate instead of discussing what went right and wrong for Senate Democrats on Election Day, when they fell short of winning back the majority. Democrats still have a chance to win two runoff races in Georgia on Jan. 5, which could make Schumer the Senate majority leader,” adds the website.

posted by Hannity Staff - 11.23.20

A recently released poll from Harvard revealed this week that a majority of Americans prefer the Republican Party retain control of the United States Senate just weeks before voters in Georgia decide the direction of Congress in 2021.

“Fifty-six percent of voters said they want a divided government with Republicans in control of the upper chamber,” reports The Hill. “Forty-four percent of voters said they wanted Democrats to control the Senate.”

“As of now, the voters want divided government and their votes for the Senate and House indicate that as well,” said Harvard CAPS-Harris polling director Mark Penn. “This is a strong headwind for Democrats in the special election though [President] Trump’s continued failure to concede could muddy the waters here.”
