BREAKING: Iran Says They Have ‘Seized British Oil Tanker’ in the Straits of Hormuz

posted by Hannity Staff - 7.19.19

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard claimed Friday to have seized a British-based oil tanker in the Straits of Hormuz; escalating tensions with the US and UK just one day after the American military destroyed an Iranian drone operating in the region.

“The UK ministry of defence said it was urgently looking into what had happened to the Stena Impero, a 30,000 tonne British-flagged ship, which was heading for Saudi Arabia when it abruptly left the international sea lanes through the strait of Hormuz and tracking data showed it heading north towards the Iranian island of Qeshm, where the Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has a substantial base,” reports the Guardian.

“The Revolutionary Guards issued a statement saying they had seized the Stena Impero, citing international maritime law for their action,” adds the newspaper. “The British government said it was ‘assessing the situation following reports of an incident in the Gulf.’”

President Trump confirmed Thursday that the US military shot-down an Iranian un-manned drone operating over the Straits of Hormuz; saying the Islamic Republic takes “hostile actions” on a routine basis.

“The drone was immediately destroyed,” Trump said. “This is the latest of many provocative and hostile actions by Iran against vessels operating in international waters.”

Trump said the USS Boxer destroyed the aircraft after it flew within 1,000 yards, “ignoring multiple calls to stand down and was threatening the safety of the ship and the ship’s crew.”

“The incident marked the latest escalation of tensions between the two sides. Iran last month shot down a U.S. surveillance drone that it claimed was flying over Iranian airspace, which nearly prompted a retaliatory strike,” reports the Hill.

BREAKING NOW: Iran Shoots Down US Navy Drone, Pentagon Says ‘Unprovoked Attack’ by Tehran

posted by Hannity Staff - 6.20.19

A US Navy Drone was shot-down over the Strait of Hormuz early Thursday in what Pentagon officials are describing as an “unprovoked attack” by Iran.

“A U.S. Navy high-altitude drone was shot down Thursday by an Iranian surface-to-air missile over the Strait of Hormuz amid heightened tensions in the region after last week’s attacks on two oil tankers, according to military officials,” reports Fox News.

“U.S. Central Command said in a statement the that a U.S. Navy Broad Area Maritime Surveillance ISR aircraft, known as a BAMS-D, was shot down by an Iranian surface-to-air missile system while operating in international airspace over the Strait of Hormuz at approximately 7:35 p.m. ET on Wednesday,” adds Fox.

“Iranian reports that the aircraft was over Iran are false,” Capt. Bill Urban, a U.S. Central Command spokesman, said in a statement. “This was an unprovoked attack on a U.S. surveillance asset in international airspace.”

According to US officials, the pilot-less plane -approximately the same size as  Boeing 737- was flying 17 miles from Iranian airspace when it was shot down by a single surface-to-air missile.
