The escalating border crisis is even worse than previously thought; with new data showing a 99% increase in illegal immigration from the same time last year and warning more than 1,072,000 migrants are likely to enter the United States in 2019.
“U.S. Customs and Border Protection on Wednesday revealed that May apprehensions topped 144,000. This year has seen 676,315 apprehensions so far, up 99% over this time last year,” reports the Washington Examiner. “That shocked immigration officials who had hoped it would drop in part due to the Trump administration’s get tough efforts on the border and the potentially deadly heat migrants encounter traveling through northern Mexico.”
“Steven Kopits, the president of Princeton Policy Advisors which has predicted that immigrant apprehensions would reach 931,000 this year, expressed concern about the May numbers and boosted his prediction to 1,072,000,” adds the Examiner.

Earlier this week, Mexican authorities stopped an additional ‘caravan’ of Central American migrants from crossing their southern border; a gesture that could help future trade talks with the Trump administration.
“Authorities blocked a new caravan of Central American migrants Wednesday after they entered Mexico bound for the United States, as the government scrambled to dodge President Donald Trump’s threat to impose tariffs over undocumented immigration,” reports Yahoo News.
“Soldiers and police forced hundreds of migrants in the group — which was mostly from Honduras — to a halt in the southern town of Metapa de Dominguez, about 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) from the Mexican-Guatemalan border,” adds the report.
The Trump administration is prepared to impose a 5% tariff on all Mexican products on Monday should their government fail to crackdown on illegal immigration flowing towards the United States.
The escalating crisis at the border took a turn for the worse in May 2019, with new statistics showing federal agents detained more than 55,000 children attempting to illegally enter the United States.
“The government set another grim record in May with more than 55,000 children nabbed by Border Patrol agents along the southwest border,” reports the Washington Times. “They were part of more than 130,000 unauthorized migrants Border Patrol agents and officers at the ports of entry encountered last month, up from about 109,000 in April and far higher than the 51,000 or so nabbed in May 2018.”
“As much as 60 percent of agents’ time is now spent babysitting illegal immigrants rather than patrolling the border, and they’re setting records for making rescues of migrants in distress. Meanwhile border detention facilities are packed, with more than 19,000 people in space that is already in crisis when it reaches 6,000,” adds the newspaper.
According to sources, the bill includes “$192,700,000 for improved medical care, transportation, and consumables to better ensure the health and safety of migrants who are temporarily in [U.S. Customs and Border Protection] custody,” claims a Congressional statement.
This crisis shows no signs of slowing down.

BORDER CHAOS: 500 Pounds of Mexican METH Discovered in 'DISNEY' Figurines
The Drug Enforcement Agency discovered over $2 million worth of smuggled Mexican methamphetamines hidden inside Disney character figurines Wednesday; calling the haul the biggest “meth bust” in the Atlanta region.
According to DEA officials, the drugs were hidden inside over 500 figurines meant to look like beloved Disney characters such as Winnie the Pooh and Tigger.
“DEA Atlanta Division Special Agent in Charge Robert Murphy says the meth originated in Mexico and was destined for Atlanta,” writes a local CBS affiliate. “He says another load containing legitimate ceramic figurines was intercepted and is believed to have been intended as a decoy.”
The discovery comes as President Trump pledges to crackdown on human trafficking and drug smuggling at the United States’ southern border; vowing last week to deploy the National Guard to help secure the region.
BORDER CHAOS: 55 Immigrants Discovered in a Single Tractor-Trailer in TEXAS
Nearly 60 individuals -including children- were discovered in San Antonio, Texas late Tuesday evening crammed into a single tractor-trailer; raising serious questions over how the immigrants were able to successfully cross the US-Mexico border.
According to MySanAntonio News, authorities from multiple federal and local agencies descended on the south Texas town Tuesday night after the trailer was discovered in a quiet residential neighborhood.

“KSAT-TV reports that authorities from several agencies were called to a North Side neighborhood around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday and found 55 people suspected of entering the country illegally in and around a tractor-trailer,” writes MySA.
“This truck was air-conditioned, thank God. This truck had water. So they were hydrated,” said San Antonio Fire Department Chief Charles Hood, adding that at least five immigrants were rushed to a nearby hospital.
