President Trump delivered on his promise on Wednesday to install two new flag poles on the White House lawn.
“Let’s have a good — they call it a lifting,” Trump said in the morning as he surveyed the construction of the 100-ft pole.
“They also use another word but I’m not gonna use that word. It starts with an ‘E.’ Do you know what the word is? If I ever used it I would be run out of town. Alright. So enjoy it,” he laughed.
According to The New York Post, the two poles, one on the North Lawn and one on the South Lawn, will cost Trump about $50,000 each to complete, he told reporters, heralding their arrival at the executive mansion as an event centuries in the making.
“The White House opened in about 1800, just a tad before that, and I’ve always said, why doesn’t it have a flagpole from the grass?” the president said.
