U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent absolutely roasted California Governor Gavin Newsom during a Davos press conference, blasting the Golden State Gov’s criticisms of European leaders for yielding to President Trump’s Greenland purchase threats and tariffs.
“I think it’s very, very ironic that Newsom — who strikes me as Patrick Bateman meets Sparkle Beach Ben — may be the only Californian who knows less about economics than Kamala Harris. He’s here this week with his billionaire sugar daddy, Alex Soros,” Bessent said.
“My message to Governor Newsom is the Trump Administration is coming to California, and we are going to crack down on waste, fraud, and abuse,” Bessent added.
