Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders slammed the Trump administration’s change in policy towards Israel Monday; flat-out insisting that all “Israeli settlements in occupied territory are illegal.”
“Israeli settlements in occupied territory are illegal. This is clear from international law and multiple United Nations resolutions. Once again, Mr. Trump is isolating the United States and undermining diplomacy by pandering to his extremist base,” posted Sanders on social media.

BERNIE BACKS OMAR: Sanders Defends Omar’s ‘Legitimate Criticism’ of Israel
Vermont Senator and potential 2020 Democratic nominee Bernie Sanders defended Rep. Ilhan Omar’s fierce anti-Israeli rhetoric Thursday; saying Americans shouldn’t “equate” anti-Semitism with “legitimate criticism” of the Jewish State.
“Anti-Semitism is a hateful and dangerous ideology which must be vigorously opposed in the United States and around the world,” said Sanders. “We must not, however, equate anti-Semitism with legitimate criticism of the right-wing, Netanyahu government in Israel.”
“Rather, we must develop an even-handed Middle East policy which brings Israelis and Palestinians together for a lasting peace,” he added.
House Democrats will vote Thursday on a resolution “against bigotry” that fails to explicitly condemn Omar’s recent series of anti-Israeli statements and posts on social media.

BERNIE RIPS BIBI: Sanders Slams Israel’s ‘Racist Government,’ Says Netanyahu Treats Palestinians ‘Unfairly’
Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders slammed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a town hall event Monday; saying the foreign leader runs a “racist government” that treats “Palestinians unfairly.”
“So what I believe is the United States gives billions of dollars in military aid to Israel. What I believe is not radical. I just believe that the United States should deal with the Middle East on a level playing field basis. In other words, the goal must be to try to bring people together and not just support one country, which is now run by a right-wing, dare I say, racist government,” said Sanders.

“I am not anti-Israel but the fact of the matter is that Netanyahu is a right-wing politician who, I think, is treating the Palestinian people extremely unfairly,” he added.
