BERNIE CAVES: Sanders Yields to Growing Backlash, Gives Raises to Some Staffers

posted by Hannity Staff - 7.23.19

Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders confirmed this week his plan to raise the salaries of some staffers to comply with his $15-an-hour pledge; yielding to a growing backlash after workers complained to multiple media outlets.

“I was insistent that everybody on our staff make at least $15 an hour, and in fact they’re making $17 an hour,” Sanders said. “The offer that we made to the union several months ago would have accomplished that. And I’m happy to tell you, by the way, that offer was just accepted.”

The increase will raise the base pay of field staffers from $36,000 to $42,000 per year.

Sanders’ campaign confirmed this week they will have to reduce staffers’ hours to comply with this $15-an-hour minimum wage pledge; prompting mockery from critics on both sides of the aisle.

“Democrat presidential candidate Bernie Sanders announced this weekend he will cut staffers’ hours so that they can effectively be paid a $15-an-hour minimum wage, prompting mockery from critics who say the move is more evidence that Sanders’ plan to raise the national minimum wage is hypocritical and would only lead to less work and more unemployment,” reports Fox News.

Sanders’ solution is to “limit the number of hours staffers work to 42 or 43 each week to ensure they’re making the equivalent of $15 an hour,” he told the Register’s Brianne Pfannenstiel.

“It does bother me that people are going outside of the process and going to the media,” Sanders added. “That is really not acceptable. It is really not what labor negotiations are about, and it’s improper.”

AMAZON STRIKES BACK: Bezos Accuses Bernie of ‘MISLEADING’ Americans on Work Conditions

posted by Hannity Staff - 8.30.18

Online retail giant Amazon fired-back at Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders this week; making a are political statement that accused the Democratic Socialist of “misleading” the American people with “inaccurate” information.

Amazon posted the scathing statement on social media after Sanders slammed CEO Jeff Bezos for difficult working conditions and low-wages at distribution centers across the country; claiming employees were sleeping in cars and receiving government assistance.

“Senator Sanders continues to make inaccurate and misleading accusations against Amazon,” said a post on Amazon’s website. “We have been in regular contact with his office and have offered several opportunities for Senator Sanders and his team to tour one of our fulfillment centers (FCs). To date he has still not seen an FC for himself.”

“Instead, Senator Sanders continues to spread misleading statements about pay and benefits. Amazon is proud to have created over 130,000 new jobs last year alone. In the U.S., the average hourly wage for a full-time associate in our fulfillment centers, including cash, stock, and incentive bonuses, is over $15/hour before overtime,” adds the statement.

BERNIE BLASTS WALMART: The Far-Left Senator Demands Walmart Raise Wages for All Workers

posted by Hannity Staff - 6.05.19

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders directly targeted Walmart at the corporation’s shareholder meeting Wednesday; demanding higher pay for all workers to avoid what he described as “starvation wages.”

“Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders attended the annual Walmart shareholders meeting on Wednesday, where he pressed the company to raise wages for its hourly workers,” reports Fox Business.

“Sanders put forth a proposal to raise the company’s $11 minimum wage. He also proposed allowing hourly workers to have representation on the company’s board of directors,” adds the article.

“Walmart is the largest private employer in America and is owned by … the wealthiest family in the U.S.,” Sanders said during his three-minute presentation. “Despite the wealth of its owner, Walmart pays many of its employees starvation wages.”

Sanders has previously attacked giant American corporations such as McDonald’s and Amazon; similarly demanding an increase in payment to avoid “starvation wages.”

Sanders released a new proposal last week that would crackdown on “capitalism” in the United States; promoting “worker ownership” of large companies and corporations.

“Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) will push new policies aimed at giving workers a greater ownership stake in companies, moves the 2020 presidential candidate is pitching as a dramatic transfer of power in the U.S. economy,” writes the Washington Post.

“The plans would give millions of workers the type of workplace influence typically reserved for shareholders and executives,” adds the newspaper.

“The establishment says there’s no alternative to an unfettered capitalism that produces huge CEO bonuses while millions are paid starvation wages. They are dead wrong. Instead of more tax breaks to profitable corporations, let’s expand employee ownership,” posted Sanders on social media.

“We can move to an economy where workers feel that they’re not just a cog in the machine — one where they have power over their jobs and can make decisions,” Sanders said in an interview. “Democracy isn’t just the opportunity to vote. What democracy really means is having control over your life.”
