During an appearance at the South by Southwest conference over the weekend, former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi urged the audience not to “go after China.”

According to Fox News, the comment came as Pelosi was urging global cooperation to stop climate change during a series on the “Future of Democracy.”

“Here’s the thing, you can’t just go after China with a cudgel. You have to say, ‘We have to live on this planet together. How can we work together to save the planet from climate change?’” Pelosi asked the audience.

“They are essential in that discussion. How can we work with them on issues when we can find common ground,” she added.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) hit Pelosi on Twitter, joking that the CCP wrote her speech.
