BALLOT BOX BATTLE: Trump Says 'Nationalize the Voting,' Gives Update on Georgia Investigation

posted by Hannity Staff - 2.02.26

President Donald Trump urged Republicans to seize control of election administration in multiple states during a Monday appearance on The Dan Bongino Show — arguing that Democrats “brought” illegal immigrants into the country to vote.

“These people were brought to our country to vote and they vote illegally. And [it’s] amazing that the Republicans aren’t tougher on it,” Trump said. “The Republicans should say, ‘We want to take over, we should take over the voting in at least many, 15 places.’ The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting. We have states that are so crooked and they’re counting votes. We have states that I won that show I didn’t win.”

Trump also previewed what he claimed would be new developments tied to Georgia ballots.

“Now you’re going to see something in Georgia where they were able to get with a court order the ballots, you’re going to see some interesting things come out,” he said, before again asserting: “like the 2020 election, I won that election by so much. Everybody knows it.”

The comments came as federal investigators are making moves in Georgia.

On January 28, 2026, the Federal Bureau of Investigation executed a court-authorized search warrant at the Fulton County election facility in Union City, seeking 2020 election materials, according to reporting by Reuters and the Associated Press.

“The FBI is conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity,” the FBI’s national press office said. “No other information is available at this time.”

Separately, Fulton County officials acknowledged a procedural documentation issue raised at the state level involving unsigned tabulator tapes for a large number of early votes in 2020, according to local reporting.

On Capitol Hill, Republicans continue pressing the Senate to take up the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which would require documentary proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections. The bill passed the House in April 2025 and has not been brought to a Senate vote, per Congress.gov and GOP statements.
