Some Big Apple residents won’t wait around to see how Mamdani ruins the city.
Hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers are ready to run for the exits if socialist Zohran Mamdani takes City Hall — a stunning poll warns the Big Apple could face the largest population flight in U.S. history.
Roughly 765,000 residents — nearly one in ten New Yorkers — said they would definitely leave if Mamdani becomes the city’s 111th mayor, according to a J.L. Partners survey cited by the Daily Mail. Another 2.12 million said they’d consider packing up and going.
That’s the equivalent of Washington, D.C., Las Vegas, or Seattle vanishing overnight.
“If anywhere near that number actually left, the economic impact would be seismic,” pollster James Johnson told the outlet. “Older New Yorkers, Staten Islanders, and white voters are the most likely to say they would pack up and go.”
When asked to describe what “Mamdani’s New York” would look like, respondents didn’t mince words — calling it a “disaster,” “hell,” and — cover your ears — a “sh–hole.”
Men are leading the escape route: 12% said they’d definitely move, compared to 7% of women. Among those aged 50 to 64, the urge to flee is even stronger — 12% certain and 33% considering it.
By race, 13% of white and 11% of Asian New Yorkers said they’d definitely go.
Staten Island tops the flight list, with 21% saying they’d leave and 54% considering it. In Manhattan, 6% said they’d bolt; in Brooklyn, 8%.
Meanwhile, the Carolinas, Florida, and Tennessee have emerged as top destinations — prized for their lower income and property taxes.
Pollsters say at least 1.9 million voters will turn out Tuesday — the highest since 1969, when liberal John Lindsay won the mayor’s race.
But if Mamdani triumphs, that victory could come with a chilling prize: a city ready to flee.
