Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez delivered a passioned plea to “defund” police departments across America Sunday; asking people to “sacrifice everything” and “all their privileges” to promote social justice.

“There are moments in every person’s career, where you have to be willing to say, ‘Am I willing to sacrifice everything that I have, all the privileges that I have, so that the right thing can go through?’ This is one of those moments,” said Ocasio-Cortez.

“If you’re an elected official, I’m asking you to ask yourself, what are you willing to sacrifice to make sure that overfunded police departments are defunded?’

CARSON: ‘You Want to Abolish Police Departments? Are You Kidding Me?’

Dr. Ben Carson weighed-in Monday on the growing movement to “Defund the Police” across America; saying people should not be “seduced into accepting silly things that make absolutely no sense.”

“Let’s not be fooled. Let’s not be seduced into accepting silly things that make absolutely no sense. Let’s think this thing through. You want to abolish police departments? Are you kidding me? What happens if you do that? People go out and arm themselves,” said Carson.

“They start hiring vigilante groups to protect them. We have total chaos going on. That makes absolutely no sense,” he added.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio caved to mounting pressure from the ‘Black Lives Matters’ movement and other protesters Sunday; saying he plans to “move resources from the NYPD” to “youth and social services.”

“This morning we committed to move resources from the NYPD to youth and social services as part of our City’s budget. Our young people need to be reached, not policed. We can do this AND keep our city safe,” posted de Blasio on social media.

“Mayor Bill de Blasio on Sunday pledged for the first time to cut the city’s police funding, following 10 nights of mass protests against police violence and mounting demands that he overhaul a department whose tactics have caused widespread consternation,” reports the New York Times.
