Violent street gang MS-13 set its sights on a DC-area middle school this week, with district officials warning parents, teachers, and students of a “ticking time bomb” just outside of the nation’s capital.
Authorities at William Wirt Middle School in Riverdale, Maryland are not taking the threat lightly as the gang expands and violence begins to spread throughout the school.
“Gang-related fights are now a near-daily occurrence at Wirt, where a small group of suspected MS-13 members at the overwhelmingly Hispanic school throw gang signs, sell drugs, draw gang graffiti and aggressively recruit students recently arrived from Central America,” writes the Washington Post.
“Teachers feel threatened but aren’t backed up. Students feel threatened but aren’t protected,” one teacher told the Post. “The school is a ticking time bomb.”
The rise in violence comes as President Trump pledges to crackdown on the gang, calling their violent members “animals” and vowing to “get them out” of the country as soon as possible.

GANGLAND: New Yorkers PRAISE Trump’s Crackdown on ‘Animal’ MS-13
Local residents on Long Island, New York praised the President’s tough approach to violent street gang MS-13 this week; thanking the President for his harsh crackdown on the cartel that has terrorized communities for over a decade.
The President first visited the region in July to talk with leaders about the “bloodstained killing fields” that had overrun their neighborhoods; saying his administration will “dismantle and eradicate” the gang after multiple murders terrorized the suburban communities.
“It feels a lot better and safer,” longtime Brentwood resident Melissa Early, 40, told Newsday. “I’m not sure if they’ve moved on or they just know people are gunning for them.”
“It used to be … people afraid to walk around,” she said. “Now it’s all different. The police are really on top of things.”
Democrat Nassau County Executive Laura Curran praised the Trump administration’s response to MS-13, calling the President’s focus on law enforcement a “unique opportunity.”
“It is a unique opportunity,” Curran said, “to directly seek more federal funds and assistance for law enforcement to combat gangs and gain resources for community groups to keep our youth from joining gangs.”

GANGLAND: MS-13 Orders Members to ‘TAKE OUT COPS’ in New York
Notorious street-gang MS-13 has reportedly ordered its members to “take out” police officers in New York; hoping to send a strong message to authorities following a serious crackdown on the group throughout the region.
According to the New York Post, the NYPD is on high-alert after a confidential informant told police that gang members were given a green light to murder local police officers; particularly in the nearby town of Hempstead on Long Island.
“The police have been making too many arrests and it’s time to take the streets back and take out (shoot) a cop like we do in El Salvador,” the suspect said.
Police are ratcheting up patrols and tracking down all leads related to the threat.
“It is imperative for members of the service to take these threats seriously and adapt their work habits and lifestyles accordingly,” said a memo released by the New York Police Department.
