According to a report from The Daily Wire, Twitter CEO Elon Musk is planning to offer cheaper Twitter subscriptions to users who don’t download and sign up through the Apple App Store and instead go directly through Twitter.
Twitter subscriptions will go down to $7 through the blue bird and up to $11 through the app store.
From The Daily Wire:
The report said that the price change was likely to offset “the 30% cut that Apple takes on revenues from apps for iOS.”
Mashable noted that Apple does not object to companies charging more for subscriptions on Apple’s App Store than they do on the web.
The news comes after Musk has dealt with drama surrounding Twitter’s presence on Google and Apple’s app stores in recent weeks after he took charge of the company in October.
Musk said that he would create smartphones if Apple and Google removed Twitter from the stores, a move that would be highly damaging to the social media company.
