As Wall Street corruption and insider trading runs rampant on the Hill, U.S. Senators Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and Jon Ossoff (D-GA) have been pushing a solution. The Ban Congressional Stock Trading Act will require all members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children to place their stock portfolios into a blind trust. This is just one of many anti-Congress trading bills making its way through the halls of Congress.
“High-profile scandals of stock trading […] around confidential briefings that members were receiving brought this issue to the public consciousness. […] 75% of the country agrees that members of Congress should not be permitted to trade stocks while in office,” Ossoff says.
