POLL: Frustrated Republicans Support Trump's Outreach to Democrats

posted by Hannity Staff - 9.13.17

While Congressional republicans and GOP lawmakers bristled over the prospect of President Trump striking a deal with democrats over the debt ceiling –and possibly DACA- the vast majority of Americans support the President’s outreach to liberal legislators to help advance his agenda.

According to Rasmussen, 66% of likely American voters think the White House’s outreach to congressional democrats is “good for the country.” A mere 13% think bipartisan cooperation is “bad for the country,” with 21% undecided.

More revealing, only 19% of those surveyed said the President should “continue to rely on congressional Republicans to pass his agenda,” with 72% of registered republicans “enthusiastic” about Trump’s recent outreach.

The President raised eyebrows throughout Washington and the rest of the nation last week, when he quickly reached a deal with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi; delivering a rapid debt-ceiling deal as the nation braced for two natural disasters.

The President has routinely criticized congressional republicans over their inability help him advance his agenda and to repeal and replace Obamacare; breaking a seven-year promise to the American people.
