Senior Presidential adviser Kellyanne Conway lashed-out at CNN anchor Chris Cuomo on Thursday, calling the host an “amateur climatologist” for repeatedly trying to conflate Hurricane Harvey and its devastating floods with climate change and global warming.
Conway was speaking with Cuomo over the Trump administration’s ongoing response to the hurricane when he asked whether the White House would acknowledge the impact “climate change” had on the storm.
“One of the themes that’s coming out of this, and it’s not a discussion just to have now but certainly in the weeks and months as we move forward, is whether or not what happened in Harvey and why it’s happening and why these storms happen, open up a discussion about the role of climate change. Is the President […] open to that conversation?” asked Cuomo.
“Chris, we’re trying to help the people whose lives are literally underwater and you want to have a conversation about climate change?” asked Conway.
“Imagine if we could find ways to reduce the number of these storms?” pressed the CNN host.
“Here’s the deal: You play amateur climatologist tonight, and I will play a professional helper to those in need, and continue in my job as counsel to the President,” said Kellyanne.
