DEI PURGE: Trump Interior Department Axes DEI, Climate, and Migrant Partnerships

posted by Hannity Staff - 6.11.26

The United States Department of the Interior is terminating dozens of outside partnerships tied to diversity initiatives, environmental activism and illegal immigrant advocacy as part of a sweeping review ordered under the Trump administration.

Led by Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, the department said it is cutting 43 agreements with outside organizations and eliminating more than $4 million in planned funding.

According to the department, the partnerships were found to be “operating in direct opposition” to the agency’s mission and no longer aligned with the administration’s priorities.

“Under Secretary Burgum, the Department of the Interior is ending partnerships with groups that no longer represent the priorities of the American people,” the department said in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital.

The agency said all agreements with the identified groups are being terminated and references to the organizations are being removed from Interior Department websites.

The move follows a department-wide review launched in March that uncovered nearly 3,000 active agreements involving roughly 2,000 outside organizations, including nonprofits, NGOs, universities and private institutions.

Federal officials said multiple groups reviewed during the process “did not appear to provide a clear benefit” or failed to align with the department’s goals.

Among the organizations targeted was Hispanic Access Foundation, which the department said offers scholarships to illegal immigrant Latino students and worked with the National Park Service on cultural and educational initiatives.

Interior officials also flagged Latino Outdoors, accusing the group of distributing guidance on avoiding detention by Immigration and Customs Enforcement while advocating against oil and gas development.

Another organization identified in the review was American Alliance of Museums, which Interior said partnered with the National Park Service to expand DEI programming through community engagement efforts.

The department also highlighted previous diversity-focused initiatives tied to the group’s “Facing Change” program.

Environmental advocacy organization Conservation International was also targeted after Interior officials cited its support for phasing out fossil fuels and advancing equity-based climate policies.

The department additionally criticized The Cultural Landscape Foundation, which has challenged several Trump administration initiatives, including lawsuits involving the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and opposition to proposed White House renovation plans.

Officials also pointed to the group’s “Landslide 2026: Erasing American History” initiative, which highlights historic and cultural sites it says are threatened by administration policies.

The Trump administration has increasingly moved to eliminate DEI programs and climate-focused initiatives across federal agencies, arguing taxpayer dollars should be redirected toward core government functions instead of ideological advocacy.
