President Donald Trump warned Thursday that the United States could soon seize Iran’s strategic Kharg Island oil hub as the conflict between Washington and Tehran spiraled deeper into open warfare.
“The United States will be hitting Iran … VERY HARD TONIGHT,” Trump declared in a Truth Social post Thursday morning.
“At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets,” the president added.

Kharg Island processes roughly 90% of Iran’s crude oil exports and has emerged as one of the most strategically important targets in the widening regional conflict.
Trump compared the possible takeover to the administration’s actions involving Venezuela’s energy markets, claiming that the arrangement was “working out brilliantly.”
The remarks came after a second consecutive day of US strikes against Iranian targets following the downing of an American Apache helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz earlier this week.
US officials say the helicopter was brought down by an Iranian drone attack, prompting retaliatory strikes ordered directly by Trump.
Iran has since launched missiles toward American military installations in Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait, dramatically raising fears of a broader Middle East war.
Trump had previously avoided directly targeting Iran’s oil infrastructure during the early stages of Operation Epic Fury, viewing the facilities as essential to any postwar economic future for the country.
