President Donald Trump declared Tuesday that Iran is buckling under pressure, claiming the regime has reached a breaking point and is now seeking relief from U.S. actions.
In a post on TRUTH Social, Trump said Tehran has privately signaled distress and is pushing for a reopening of the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz.
“Iran has just informed us that they are in a ‘State of Collapse.’ They want us to ‘Open the Hormuz Strait,’ as soon as possible, as they try to figure out their leadership situation (Which I believe they will be able to do!)” Trump wrote.

The remarks come amid heightened tensions in the region, with the U.S. maintaining pressure on Iran through maritime restrictions and broader economic measures.
The Strait of Hormuz — a narrow waterway through which a significant portion of the world’s oil supply flows — has long been a geopolitical flashpoint, with any disruption carrying major implications for global energy markets.
Trump’s statement suggests the administration believes its strategy is working, forcing Iran into a weakened position both economically and politically.
The reference to Iran’s “leadership situation” also points to ongoing uncertainty inside Tehran, where reports of internal instability have fueled speculation about fractures within the regime.
