TRIP SCRAPPED: Trump Pulls Plug On Pakistan Talks With Iran

posted by Hannity Staff - 4.25.26

President Donald Trump pulled the plug Saturday on a planned U.S. delegation trip to Pakistan for fresh peace talks with Iran, declaring the effort a waste of time and blasting Tehran’s fractured leadership.

“I just cancelled the trip of my representatives going [to] Islamabad, Pakistan, to meet with the Iranians,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“Too much time wasted on traveling, too much work!”

The decision halts a diplomatic push that, just hours earlier, the White House said was moving forward.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt had told Fox News that Trump envoys — including Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff — were set to depart for Islamabad to engage in direct talks with Iranian representatives, mediated by Pakistan.

By Saturday afternoon, it was off.

Trump pointed to what he described as dysfunction inside Iran’s ruling structure.

“Nobody knows who is in charge, including them,” he wrote. “Also, we have all the cards, they have none!”

Pakistani officials — including Asim Munir and Shehbaz Sharif — had been working to broker the talks, hosting Iranian representatives and coordinating logistics for the U.S. delegation.

Tehran’s team had planned a broader diplomatic swing through Russia and Oman following the Pakistan stop, according to prior announcements.

The last round of negotiations, led by Vice President JD Vance, ended April 12 without a breakthrough after 21 hours of marathon discussions.
