Israel says it has eliminated one of Iran’s most dangerous power brokers — the man tied directly to the global oil chokehold.
Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps navy, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the port city of Bandar Abbas, according to Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz.
The location matters.
Bandar Abbas sits on the edge of the Strait of Hormuz — the narrow corridor through which roughly 20 percent of the world’s oil supply flows.
And Tangsiri wasn’t just another uniform.
He was the architect of Iran’s strategy to shut that corridor down.

Tangsiri had publicly vowed to keep the strait closed under orders from Mojtaba Khamenei, signaling a willingness to weaponize one of the most critical arteries in the global economy.
“In response to the order of the commander-in-chief, we will deliver the harshest blows to the aggressor enemy while maintaining the strategy of closing the Strait of Hormuz,” he said.
That strategy rattled markets.
Oil prices have surged in recent weeks, with Brent crude hovering around $100 per barrel — a spike driven in part by fears that Iran could choke off supply through Hormuz.
