“Death and destruction from the sky, all day long.”
The United States and Israel are on the verge of complete control of the skies over Iran, according to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
Hegseth said the combined air power of the two allies is rapidly dismantling Iran’s ability to contest its own airspace as operations continue against the regime’s military infrastructure.
“Starting last night and to be completed in a few days — in under a week — the two most powerful air forces in the world will have complete control of Iranian skies, uncontested airspace,” Hegseth said.
The comments come as U.S. forces and the Israel Defense Forces expand an ongoing campaign targeting Iran’s missile capabilities and military command structure.
“It means we will fly all day, all night, day and night, finding and finishing the missiles and defense industrial base of the Iranian military, finding finishing their leaders and their military leaders flying over Tehran,” Hegseth added.
The campaign is part of the joint U.S.–Israeli military effort launched over the weekend, with Israel conducting parallel strikes under Operation Lion Roar alongside the American operation known as Operation Epic Fury.
U.S. officials say the objective is to cripple Iran’s missile forces and military leadership while preventing the regime from threatening Israel, the United States, or regional allies.
Hegseth made clear the Pentagon believes Iran’s air defenses are collapsing under the pressure.
“Iran will be able to do nothing about it,” he said. “They are toast, and they know it.”
