Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to testify Wednesday morning before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, defending the Trump administration’s Venezuela operation that led to the capture and ouster of Nicolás Maduro and outlining next steps for U.S. policy in Caracas.
Rubio is expected to argue the United States is “not at war” with Venezuela, while warning that additional force remains on the table if Venezuela’s interim leadership fails to align with U.S. conditions following the raid that captured Maduro earlier this month, according to prepared testimony previewed by The Associated Press.
