Really? No idea, huh?
Former Vice President Kamala Harris admitted she didn’t realize she had “pulled the pin on a hand grenade” with a comment on The View during the 2024 presidential race, according to an Associated Press report on her forthcoming book.
Asked on the program whether she would have done anything differently than President Joe Biden, Harris responded that nothing “comes to mind” and added she had “been a part of … most of the decisions that have had impact.”
“I had no idea I’d just pulled the pin on a hand grenade,” Harris wrote in her memoir, 107 Days, the AP reported. “My staff were beside themselves,” she added, saying the remark handed a “gift to the Trump campaign.”
Harris explained that she avoided criticizing Biden or highlighting disagreements, but acknowledged she underestimated how her close association with him hampered her own presidential bid, according to the AP.
Harris lost to Donald Trump in a landslide.
“I could barely breathe,” Harris wrote regarding her experience of learning that she had lost the White House contest to her Republican rival, the outlet reported. She kept asking, “My God, my God, what will happen to our country?”
We’re doing just fine, Kam.
Harris recently announced that she would not seek the governor’s office in California, despite rumors to the contrary.
“In recent months, I have given serious thought to asking the people of California for the privilege to serve as their Governor,” she noted in a statement issued in late July. “But after deep reflection, I’ve decided that I will not run for Governor in this election.”
