Assassination of Charlie Kirk

'I HOPE YOU THINK ABOUT THAT': Stephen King Gets a Lesson on Charlie Kirk After Apologizing for a False Claim

posted by Hannity Staff - 9.12.25

Author Stephen King was forced to apologize this week after posting a false, insensitive claim about Charlie Kirk shortly after his assassination.

King claimed that Kirk advocated for the stoning of “gays.”

This was, of course, false. The clip King was referring to showed Kirk demonstrating how people cherry-pick Bible quotes.

King apologized, but it was Guy Benson’s follow-up post that stole the show.

“I apologize for saying Charlie Kirk advocated stoning gays. What he actually demonstrated was how some people cherry-pick Biblical passages,” King posted, adding in another post, “I was wrong, and I apologize. I have deleted the post.”

Benson said in a follow-up, “I strongly suspect Charlie would have accepted this apology and invited you to come talk with him. I hope you think about that.”

Country music star John Rich also responded to King’s apology, adding: Charlie would have prayed for you to give your life to Jesus, even with the vile things you’ve had to say about him. That’s what real Christians do. Stephen, open your Bible, and start reading it right now, and start with the story of “Stephen” your namesake: Acts 7:59 “While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.”
