During a recent appearance, Empire State Gov. Kathy Hochul suggested that Black children in the Bronx don’t know what the word “computer” is. “They don’t know, they don’t know these things. And I want the world opened up to all of them,” she added.
Hochul was hammered on X from both sides of the aisle.
“Do better,” Assemblywoman Karines Reyes (D-Bronx) wrote on X saying she was “deeply disturbed” by Hochul’s remarks. “Our children are bright, brilliant, extremely capable, and more than deserving of any opportunities that are extended to other kids,” Reyes added.
Deeply disturbed by @GovKathyHochul’s recent remarks and the underlying perception that she has of Black & brown children from the BX.
Our children are bright, brilliant, extremely capable, and more than deserving of any opportunities that are extended to other kids.

“Our children, far from being underestimated, are the epitome of brilliance, resilience, and untapped potential,” Assemblyman John Zaccaro (D-Bronx) wrote in a statement.
“They are not only capable but deserving of every opportunity that their counterparts are offered. It’s disheartening to witness such a portrayal that undermines their abilities and aspirations,” he continued.
CJ Pearson from The Free Tribune unloaded on Hochul in a video, asking his followers to imagine if Donald Trump had said the same thing.
The Democrat Gov of New York @KathyHochul just argued that young black children don’t even know what a computer is.
As a young black man, I have a message for the Governor: I am TIRED of racist ass Democrats like her.
Imagine if Donald Trump said ANYTHING remotely similar? pic.twitter.com/Gt87XvYCnK
