WHY IS JOE ON TIKTOK?!! Kirby Fields Questions on Team Biden Joining TikTok Despite Security Threats [WATCH]

posted by Hannity Staff - 2.12.24

Despite the FBI’s repeated warnings on the dangers of TikTok, President Biden’s reelection team has decided to join the platform. Joe’s first TikTok was a 31-second clip about the Super Bowl.

Back in November 2022, FBI Director Christopher Wray had the following to say about TikTok to lawmakers on the Hill.

“We do have national security concerns, obviously from the FBI’s end, about TikTok,” he told the House Homeland Security Committee in a hearing at the time. “They include the possibility that the Chinese government could use it to control data collection on millions of users, or control the recommendation algorithm which could be used for influence operations if they so choose, or to control software on millions of devices.”

“I guess my point is that just to tie it all up, [TikTok] is a substantial national security threat for the country of a kind that we didn’t face in the past,” he added.

Wray’s warning hasn’t stopped Team Biden from joining TikTok, however — and now the White House press corps has questions. Assistant to the president John Kirby did his best to answer for Team Biden’s actions during Monday’s White House press briefing.

“On TikTok — can you explain the national security concerns [of TikTok]?” one reporter asked.

“It has to do with concerns about the preservation of data and the potential misuse of that data and privacy information by foreign actors…” Kirby said.

Another reporter followed up, saying “So the administration still has security concerns about TikTok, even though the campaign has now joined it…?”

Kirby scrambled, saying he couldn’t speak for the campaign but “Nothing’s changed about the national security concerns…about the use of TikTok…”.
