Missouri Senator Josh Hawley confronted Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over anti-semitic posts shared on social media by members of his staff during a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing on Tuesday.
The posts were made shortly following the horrific attacks on Israeli civilians on October 7th. Hawley shared one example of a post that featured a member of Hamas paragliding into Israel.
HAWLEY: “This is an Asylum and Immigration Officer who is posting these frankly pro-genocidal slogans and images on the day that Israelis are being slaughtered in their beds. What have you done about this? What have you done about this?”
MAYORKAS: “To suggest that that is emblematic of the men and women of the Department of Homeland Security is despicable!”
HAWLEY: “This person WORKS for the Department of Homeland Security!”
