2024 Heating Up

PROTECT RFK? NO WAY! Mayorkas Denies Secret Service Protection for 2024 Candidate

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has denied Secret Service protection for 2024 Democrat presidential candidate RFK Jr. according to a statement shared by Kennedy on Twitter.

Since the assassination of my father in 1968, candidates for president are provided Secret Service protection.  But not me,” Kennedy tweeted. “Typical turnaround time for pro forma protection requests from presidential candidates is 14-days.  After 88-days of no response and after several follow-ups by our campaign, the Biden Administration just denied our request.  Secretary Mayorkas: “I have determined that Secret Service protection for Robert F Kennedy Jr is not warranted at this time.”  Our campaign’s request included a 67-page report from the world’s leading protection firm, detailing unique and well-established security and safety risks aside from commonplace death threats.

Community notes provided context to RFK’s tweet, adding Secret Service protection is only afforded to ‘major candidates’ within a period of 120 days from the general election. It is, at time of writing, it is 465 days until the general election, putting this request far out of range of the law.

RFK is polling very strongly against Biden; more than 11%. His campaign has picked up some serious momentum after a number of high-profile appearances —including the hearing on censorship.

While Mayorkas has no interest in protecting RFK Jr., Hunter Biden is rolling up to his court hearings in a motorcade that’s six cars long. Oh, and it’s taxpayer-funded.
