A good sign for former President Donald Trump-endorsed Harriet Hagemen, as she was the overwhelming favorite in a recent Wyoming Republican State Central Committee straw poll; Hagemen won 59 votes compared to Rep. Liz Cheney’s 6.
Not a great sign for the incumbent. According to the Casper Star-Tribune, applause broke out when the results were read. Yikes.
“I think it’s a good sign. It’s not an endorsement, but these are the county activists” Hageman told the Casper Star-Tribune.
“The only elections that matter are in August and November,” Jeremy Adler, a spokesperson for Cheney told the newspaper after the vote.
“This smells like an endorsement to me,” Natrona County Committeeman Joe McGinley said. “Whether that is the true intention of the state … or not, that’s what it appears to be.”
Hageman is staying level-headed.
“There will be lots of polls over the next eight months, and they will all show different things,” Hageman says.
