“Infected Minnesota resident recently returned from domestic travel; variant was found through MDH variant surveillance program, which is one of the strongest surveillance programs in the nation,” posted the Minnesota Department of Health.
““Since the beginning of this pandemic, Minnesota’s nation-leading genome sequencing infrastructure and strong testing network have allowed the state to quickly track the COVID-19 virus and better understand its spread. Today, those tools detected a case of the Omicron variant in Minnesota,” said Governor Tim Walz. “This news is concerning, but it is not a surprise. We know that this virus is highly infectious and moves quickly throughout the world. Minnesotans know what to do to keep each other safe now — get the vaccine, get tested, wear a mask indoors, and get a booster. Together, we can fight this virus and help keep Minnesotans safe.”

COMRADE SANDERS: Bernie Says USA Must ‘Dismantle Vaccine Inequality’ Around the World
Senator Bernie Sanders called on the World Trade Organization and others to “dismantle vaccine inequality” around the world Tuesday, claiming the lack of injections will make new COVID variants more likely in the months ahead.
“The time for debate by the members of the World Trade Organization is over. We must urgently move NOW to dismantle the vaccine inequality that undermines our ability to confront this crisis and make vaccine technologies available to all, regardless of wealth,” posted Sanders on Twitter.

President Biden addressed the nation Monday over growing concerns of the new Omicron variant of COVID-19; saying widespread vaccinations are the best defense against the “omnicrom” strain.
“The best protection—I know you’re tired of hearing me say this— the best protection against this new variant or any of the variants out there…is getting fully vaccinated,” said Biden from the White House.
