GULF WAR: White House Torches Mellencamp After Trump Name-Change Tirade — 'Nobody Cares' What You Have to Say

posted by Hannity Staff - 7.28.26

John Mellencamp turned one of his biggest hits into a protest against President Donald Trump. The White House promptly turned the volume back up.

The 74-year-old rocker interrupted “Pink Houses” during his Saturday concert in Holmdel, New Jersey, to ridicule Trump’s decision to designate the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America for official U.S. government use.

Mellencamp had reached the song’s reference to vacationing along the Gulf of Mexico when he stopped the performance.

“Wait a minute,” Mellencamp said as his band continued playing. “The Gulf of Mexico? Is that right? It’s not the Gulf of America? What a stupid f—ing idea.”

The crowd cheered before Mellencamp returned to the song and finished the performance at the PNC Bank Arts Center.

By Monday, the White House was ready with its own review.

“Nobody in their right mind cares what out-of-touch, woke Hollywood celebrities have to say,” White House spokesman Davis Ingle told Fox News Digital.
