Nice try, fake news.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio confronted a reporter at an ASEAN Philippines 2026 event this week for trying to pit him against VP JD Vance on Iran negotiations.
“Prominent Republicans want you to take over the Iran negotiations. They trust you … and they’re attacking Vice President Vance,” one reporter said.
“Who are these Republicans?” Rubio asked.
“Senator Sheehy, the Wall Street Journal opinions page…” the reporter said.
“That’s not a Republican — that’s a newspaper!” Rubio interrupted. “You’re a troublemaker with these questions. No, no, no. Here’s the bottom line: you know who the lead negotiator is? His name is Donald J. Trump, the President of the United States. That’s who dictates our policy. He has a team of people who work together on this. We all have a role to play, depending on what the topic is.”
